The Mission of Stage 1 Theatre is to promote, advertise and encourage participation in the theatrical arts, to develop and present performing arts productions for the community, and to promote the cultural growth of the community in the Tri-City area. Stage 1 Theatre is a non-profit community theatre group located in Newark, California. Stage 1 has been performing works of comedy, drama and musical theatre in the East Bay for more than 15 years. IT’S ONLY A PLAY is a box of chocolates for those who love the theatre. After the opening night performance of a new Broadway play called The Golden Egg, the producer, playwright, the playwright's best friend (and foe), leading lady, director, coat-check-boy, a critic, and a female taxi driver quietly ditch the huge, celebrity filled opening night party downstairs to wait in the upstairs bedroom for the critics’ reviews which will determine the success or failure of their play.
